Programme’s Philosophy

Reflecting the philanthropic vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra in nurturing the nature and nourishing the human beings, the School of Nursing at Mae Fah Luang University strives to improve health and quality of life of the people in the Kingdom of Thailand and its neighboring nations.

To reiterate the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the MFU SON is committed to delivering nursing educational excellence through its teaching and learning, research, and community engagement founded on cultural appreciation of unique individuals and communities.

Our nursing graduates are competent and compassionate in their nursing practice. They are equipped with knowledge and skills in nursing, human sciences, ethics, and technology required for contemporary nursing practice. They work effectively with individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent illnesses, provide care and rehabilitation throughout health and illness continuum and across lifespan.

Founded on transformative educational philosophy, we believe that individual students are capable of learning regardless of their academic or social backgrounds. We emphasize active learning and critical thinking in real-life environment. To ensure responsiveness and relevance of our education to the changing health and social situations, we bring knowledge and experiences from research and community engagement to our teaching and learning activities. As teachers, we foster students’ learning and assist them to achieve their fullest potentials as a nurse and a person. The success of our program is reflected not only in students’ intellectual achievement but also their happiness, abilities to work with others effectively, and pride in nursing

 

Programme’s Objectives

To produce nursing graduates with the following competencies:

1. Practice compassionate nursing and midwifery care that integrates patient-centered focus, ethical practice, professional standards, laws, and relevant regulations.
2. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of nursing sciences and related disciplines to individuals, families, and communities in adherence to professional standards.
3. Demonstrate a positive attitude towards oneself, the institution, and the profession while demonstrating awareness of and commitment to societal contributions.
4. Demonstrate leadership and management competencies, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset, while fostering collaboration within interdisciplinary teams and effectively engaging all stakeholders in the context of diverse societal changes.
5. Apply systematic and critical thinking to manage disaster-related health risks and problems through scientific processes and evidence-based practices.
6. Communicate effectively in Thai and English for academic and professional purposes.
7. Apply methods of mathematics, statistics, information technology, and digital health technologies proficiently and ethically in nursing practice.
8. Deliver holistic nursing and midwifery care across the lifespan and various health conditions by applying the nursing process, research findings, digital technology, and innovations, while emphasizing family involvement and cultural sensitivity within legal, ethical, and professional standards.

Career Opportunities

  1. Being a Registered Nurse (RN) in healthcare services, divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary care setting.
  2. Being a school nurse or an occupational health nurse.
  3. Being a healthcare entrepreneur that is not against the Nursing and Midwifery Profession Act.

 

Programme Learning Outcomes: PLOs

  • PLO 1: Express integrity, self-discipline, and professional ethics, as well as a positive attitude toward the nursing profession, and personal and social responsibility.
  • PLO 2: Indicate the links between the nursing profession's core principles, management, information technology, digital health technology, entrepreneurship, and the science of nursing and midwifery.
  • PLO 3: Integrate scientific, research, and innovation processes into the nursing process in order to enhance knowledge and develop guidelines for solving problems in the field of nursing and midwifery.
  • PLO 4: Plan and manage disaster-related health risks and problems.
  • PLO 5: Show leadership qualities, respect rights, and be respectful of others; collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team; and strive for continuous self and nursing profession development.
  • PLO 6: Apply methods of mathematics, statistics, information technology, and digital health technologies proficiently and ethically in nursing practice.
  • PLO 7: Communicate properly in Thai and English for academic and professional purposes.
  • PLO 8: Practice holistic nursing and midwifery care in accordance with professional standards to assure quality and safety, and based on evidence, professional laws and codes of ethics, as well as the client's rights and dignity.

  • 49,400 Baht per semester
